Abstract

Sinabung eruption impact the survivors lived in shelters more than 6 months. Loss of farm, privacy, limited facilities and infrastructure is a stressor that makes the survivors feel bored lived in shelter. The uncertainty of how long to stay in evacuation add to the burden that makes the survivors feel worried, despair, defenceless and less optimistic. When helplessness, people had the opportunity to see life more positively. This can be done by given gratitude training as a part of the positive psychology approach to survivors of the eruption of Mount Sinabung. The method used is pretest-posttest control group design. Participants in this study were 12 survivors of the eruption Sinabung, 30-50 years old and still living in evacuation shelters. Participants were divided into a control and the experimental group. From the data analysis using the Mann Whitney test significance value 0.010 <0.05. This mean gratitude training effectively increases the resilience of survivors eruption Sinabung.
